Home to 30% of the planet’s biodiversity and a central component of the global water cycle, the Amazon forest is essential for life on Earth.
To secure a just and thriving future for Amazonia and the planet, we echo the voices of Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities, and Civil Society across the region and the world.
The Amazon plays a critical role in climate stability, biodiversity, and water security.
Our collective future depends on five urgent and interconnected goals:
The Guarantee of Indigenous Territorial Rights
The Defense of Land Defenders and Forest Guardians
Zero Deforestation and Ecological Reforestation by 2030
No New Destructive Industries and a Just Energy Transition
Direct Financing to Forest Communities and the Advancement of a Regenerative Bioeconomy
Together, these goals echo the pathway outlined in the Belém Declaration—rooted in regional consensus among the eight Amazonian countries and driven by a global necessity.
Amazonia Calling unites diverse partners as a global movement to promote these ideas through collective action at COP30 and beyond.
Bringing this vision into reality requires direct support for those in the region as well as a new financial architecture that is grounded in fair trade, real funding, and deforestation-free supply chains.
